The Brief:
The customer in Loughborough wanted a modern, minimal garden pond with clean lines and a sleek water-blade feature, combined with a new patio to create a cohesive contemporary outdoor space. The design brief emphasised simplicity, quality materials and low maintenance.
What We Did:
We designed the pond and patio as one integrated project — ensuring the materials, levels and proportions worked together. The pond was constructed with clean, straight edges to create a formal, contemporary look. A stainless steel water-blade was installed at one end, mounted above the water surface and connected to a recirculating pump, producing a clean curtain of falling water the full width of the blade.
The patio was laid using high-quality paving — level and flush with the pond surround — with tight joints and a clean edge detail where patio meets pond. The careful coordination of levels means the water’s surface can be appreciated at close range from the seating area.
The Result:
The finished garden is elegant and refined. The geometry of the rectangular pond combined with the water-blade creates a sophisticated focal point, and the patio provides an outdoor space that is used and enjoyed throughout the warmer months. Clean, contemporary and low maintenance — exactly what the customer asked for.
