The Brief:
The customer in Mapperly Top, Nottingham wanted a complete garden transformation — a new pond with a decorative spilling urn water feature, a decking area for outdoor seating and a new lawn to replace the existing tired garden. The brief called for a cohesive, attractive outdoor space that could be enjoyed by the whole family.
What We Did:
We designed the full garden as one integrated project — pond, decking and lawn working together. The pond was constructed as the central feature of the garden, with a decorative urn positioned within the pond footprint and connected to a concealed recirculating pump. Water is drawn from the pond, pumped up through the urn and spills gently over the rim and back into the pond — creating attractive movement and sound without the scale of a waterfall.
A timber decking area was constructed adjacent to the pond, providing a seating area with a direct view of the spilling urn. Ground preparation was carried out across the remaining garden area and new turf was laid level and even to create a fresh, clean lawn. All three elements — pond, decking and lawn — were designed and built to work together as a unified garden.
The Result:
The transformation was dramatic. The spilling urn adds movement and character to the garden without dominating the space, and the combination of pond, decking and lawn gives the customer a garden with something for everyone. The family use it throughout the warmer months.
