The Brief:
The pond owner in Oakham was experiencing ongoing water quality problems — green water, persistent algae and difficulty maintaining healthy conditions for their fish. The existing filtration was undersized and not coping. JDM Ponds was called in to assess the setup and install a correctly specified replacement filtration system.
What We Did:
We visited the site and assessed the pond volume, fish load, existing plumbing and the customer’s maintenance routine. Based on this assessment, we specified and installed a Combi-Bio 50 pump-fed filtration system — a multi-stage unit providing both mechanical and biological filtration, correctly sized for the pond.
The installation involved connecting the new filter to the pump, routing and tidying all pipework, and positioning the filter housing for easy access during routine maintenance. The system was commissioned, flow rates adjusted, and water parameters tested to confirm everything was operating correctly. We walked the customer through the maintenance routine before leaving the site.
The Result:
With the Combi-Bio 50 running correctly, the improvement in water quality was clear within the first few weeks. Green water cleared, ammonia and nitrite readings stabilised, and the fish were visibly healthier and more active. The customer now has a reliable filtration system matched to their pond.
